A very strange bird is the Pelican
His beak holds more that his belly can!

The gardens and grounds surrounding Thomas Jefferson's Home Place are informative as well as being attractive. Strolling about one is struck by the seeming omnicence of the designs that serve people in practical as well as spritual ways.

Here's the URL of Thomas Jefferson's Home Place:

Fiddling around with graphic files, fonts, and table specifications.

I wonder if these two would see each other naturally! Perhaps during winter migrations?
Strange dinner companions! Hopefully, these two birds will be around for a while.

STRANGE OR INTERESTING

About a year ago I was at Monticello. One of the rooms had a parque floor made up of pieces shaped like the elements in this pattern I've used for the background!

As you can see
there is a repeating
octagon pattern
that is created
by the squares
surrounded by the trapazoids.
The octagons however
are linked together
as each one uses
elements of it's neighbor
to complete itself!

Recently I acquired an image editor and converted and cropped the bitmap file, that I'd created last spring, to a Gif file to make it compatable with internet browsers.

This is actually a test of a couple of techniques
I've been working with. It probably looks pretty strange,
however it embodies the possibility of creating background
files from bitmaps, like the output of a common windows
application called Paintbrush!
Perhaps I'll go back and increase the image size and work
on the pattern one pixel at a time and get the relationships
between the various elements in the proper proportions. If I
select a few more sutle shades or textures for differentiating
adjacent panels the effect might be more apparent.
