If you have VERIZON for your telephone company you will need to use 15006998638.

If you are not a Verizon telephone customer, you will need to use a different number. Please refer to our list of local numbers to find the correct modem pool for your area.

Click Next after entering the phone number.
In the "Internet Account Information" window, type in your WVNET500 username followed by @wvnet in the User name field.

New Connection Wizard - step 6

Make sure you type everything lowercase.

You will need to use the user name that we assigned to you and make sure you use @wvnet after it.

You will need to type in your password plus confirm it.

You have the options on other settings using the dialup and these settings are up to you if you want to use them or not.

Click Next.

After finishing the "New Connection Wizard", check the Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop checkbox for easy access to the WVNET500 connection icon from the desktop and then click Finish.

New Connection Wizard - Finish

That's it! Simply click the 'Connect' button to test out your new connection via the 1-500-MY-WVNET number.

Will this automatically dial in for me?
If you wish to make 'WVNET500' your main dial-up connection so that other programs (IE, Netscape, Eudora, etc) automatically dial it instead of the old number, see the following instructions:

Making 'WVNET500' your default connection for all your internet applications:

  • Go to the 'Control Panel' and open up 'Network and Internet Connections'.
  • You will see the "Internet options" link - click on it
  • You will see several options - click on the "Connection" tab
  • Here you will see what dial up is your default connection.
  • If you have more then one ISP, select the dial up you want to use and then click 'SET DEFAULT'.
Connecting to WVNET500

After configuring the WVNET500 connection, you are ready to connect.

WinXP Home Connect Dialog

Double-click on the WVNET500 icon from your desktop.

NOTE: If a desktop icon was not created during the "New Connection Wizard", you can also access the WVNET500 icon from Network Connections in Control Panel.

In the "Connect WVNET500" window, enter a valid WVNET500 username and WVNET500 password in the proper fields and click Dial to connect.

You should then hear the number being dialed followed shortly by a very shrill sound.

A smaller window will come up stating Verifying username and password for a few seconds and another window that states Logging into Network will appear.

After a few seconds that window will disappear and a small icon representing two computers connected together will appear in the lower right corner of your computer screen.

Congratulations!
You're now connected to the WVNET500 modems.

Disconnecting from WVNET500

To disconnect from WVNET500, double-click on the WVNET500 icon on the desktop, and click Disconnect.
