Windows 2000 Dial-up Networking (DUN)
Dial-Up Networking (DUN) - Dialing Out - Basic Setup
Setting up a basic RAS/DUN dial-out connection is extremely easy under Windows 2000. Like most such things, this is done through a Wizard.First, open up the "Network and Dial-Up Connections" manager.
Start the wizard by double-clicking on "Make New Connection."

If you haven't done any of this before, you may be prompted to set up your Dialing Rules - basically, you just need to enter your area code, then the Wizard will start. Click Next to enter the Network Connection Wizard. You'll see the following:

Click Next to continue.
The default is NOT the one we want here - Click on "Dial-Up to the Internet."
Click Next to continue.
Click on "I want to set up my connection manually."
Click Next to continue.
Then select "I connect trough a phone line and modem."
Click Next to continue.
You will type in the phone number to connect to WVNET.
Please refer to our list of local numbers if you use a local number rather than the 500 number to connect to WVNET.
Uncheck "Use area code and dialing rules".
Click Next to continue.
Type in your username and password -- be sure to use all lowercase letters.
Click Next to continue.
Type in WVNET as a connection name.
Click Next to continue.
Click NO here -- you can always go back and create an email account later.
If you want to set up your email, see the section on email setup.

Click Next to continue.
You are now ready to connect!
