Configuring WebTV to Connect to WVNET500

  1. From your WebTV home page, select "Setup" from the sidebar

  2. In Setup, select "Dialing."

  3. From this dialing options page, choose "Use Your ISP."

    If you do not have the "Use your ISP" option, contact Customer Care at 1-800-GO-WEBTV to activate OpenISP.
  4. Read the information about OpenISP and select "Continue."

  7. Click the checkbox to activate OpenISP, then fill in the information.

    Service Provider Name = WVNET 

    Login Name = Your userid for your WVNET account followed by "@wvnet" (ex. abc012345@wvnet). Do not use your real name.

    Password = The password for your WVNET account. 

    Modem Dial-In Number = For the phone number type in 15006998638
    If you are not a Verizon telephone customer, you will need to use a different number. Please refer to our list of local numbers to find the correct modem pool for your area.

    Backup Dial-In Number = You may leave this space blank, then click on "Done". 

  8. Next, WebTV hangs up and reconnects. Read the information screen and select "Use ISP."

  9. Finally, the internet terminal connects to the WebTV Network. A confirmation screen will summarize your choice and provide you with the option to use your own ISP or use WebTV. Selecting "Use your ISP" will cause the WebTV Internet Terminal to redial using WVNET.
  10. That's it! You should now be connected to the internet via WVNET. 

If your connection process was unsuccessful, copy down any error messages received and the step in which the connection failed, then call the Help Desk for assistance.
