West Virginia Network (WVNET) offers quality Web hosting with the budgets, concerns and needs of West Virginias schools, non-profits, state and county agencies in mind. These instructions will help Web Hosting clients set up their FTP software so that they can upload their Web pages to the WVNET Webserver. Learn more about WVNET Web Hosting and Development.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol)FTP is an acronym for a procedure that enables you to send your Web page files from your computer to our Webserver. Note that your Web pages will be saved in a directory called "public_html" (or a subdirectory within it) Note that file names are CASE SENSITIVE under Linux/Apache: We do not recommend that you use Microsoft FrontPage as an FTP client. You may elect to use FrontPage to design your Web site, but we recommend that you use a stand-alone program. Note, also, that WVNET does not support FrontPage server extensions. How to FTP:File Transfer Protocol (FTP) allows you to send files from your computer to the WVNET Webserver (Linux). This means you can send Web pages, graphics and/or any other file to your Web directory to transfer to another computer or view on the web. To send files to the WVNET Webserver: 1. Connect to yourdomainname.com FTP Software: There are a number of shareware FTP clients available for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. |
