Setting up a New Identity in Microsoft Outlook Express
Adding a new Identity to Outlook Express:
- Open Outlook Express
- Click FILE in the upper left corner of the screen
- Go down to IDENTITY, and click on ADD NEW IDENTITY
- In the "Type your name" text box, enter a login name
- If you would like to be prompted for a password when entering the new identity, check the "Ask me for a password when I start" box
- If you choose to have a password, enter the password in the text box
- Click OK
- A window opens with the question, "Do you wish to switch to this Identity?"
- Click YES
- An Internet Connection Wizard application will open to walk you through establishing the settings for yourIdentity
- Re-enter the name of the person that will be using the e-mail Identity
- Click Next
- Make sure you put a check next to the box "I want to use an existing account"
- Type in the you e-mail address username@mail.wvnet.edu
- Click Next
- In the next window, verify that the text in the "My Incoming Server is a" text box reads: POP3
- In the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:" box, type: mail.wvnet.edu
- In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:" box, type: smtp.wvnet.edu
- Click NEXT
- In the next window, type your chosen Identity name in the "Account name:" text box
- Type your password
- If you would like the system to automatically enter your password, verify that the "Remember Password" boxis checked
- Verify that the "Logon Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" is NOT checked
- Click NEXT
- Click FINISH
