Communications Settings and Recommendations

Modem Protocols

WVNET modems are X2 and v.92 compatible.

Modem Settings

We recommend that you use the following "Extended AT Command" sequences in your modem initialization:

  • Reset your modem to its factory default settings.
  • Set data carrier detect (DCD) to indicate presence of data carrier
  • Hang up modem and inhibit auto answer
  • Enable RTS/CTS modem flow control

As standard Extended AT Commands, these commands will normally look like this: AT&F&C1&D2&K3 Note, however, that some modems claiming to be "Hayes compatible" may not support the entire range of Extended AT Commands. If you experience trouble getting PPP to negotiate an IP address, the most likely reason is that your modem is using different commands. Refer to your modem's user manual for the comparable commands.
