My department is responsible for ensuring that the operating environment of all central site computer systems and communications is reliable, available, and able to provide the services our customers require. Our staff is on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to:

monitor all central site hardware and communications systems
operate peripheral equipment like tape drives and the tape robot
monitor the universal power supply that keeps all essential services running in the event of a power failure
troubleshoot problems with hardware or software, and contact appropriate support staff or vendors as needed to keep all services running smoothly

In addition, this department is responsible for physical planning of the machine room environment, and oversight of the central site physical plant.

The WVNET operations staff is an integral part of the services WVNET offers, and we are proud of the important role we play in WVNET's success.
