WVNET Security Policy & Procedure

6.0 Responsibilities

6.1

The Director of WVNET has appointed an Information Security Officer (ISO) and given them the responsibility for administering the provisions of this policy and the State of West Virginia Information Security Guidelines.

6.2

The head of each WVNET department shall be responsible for ensuring that an appropriate security program is in effect and that compliance with this policy and State of West Virginia Information Security Guidelines is maintained for information systems owned and operationally supported by the department.

6.3

Confidential information maintained on a personal computer must be afforded the appropriate safeguards stated in this policy and the State of West Virginia Information Security Guidelines. It is the joint responsibility of the department head and operator/owner of the personal computer to insure that adequate security measures are in place.

6.4

The WVNET ISO will make sure that all involved parties are immediately notified when a security violation takes place. The ISO will coordinate any necessary investigation of security violations. The results of any security violation will be reported to WVNET management. If a violation is dangerous to our user community and a quick fix is not available, the problem system will be disconnected from the network.
